5 Easy Ways to Fast Track Your Wedding Planning
Posted by Alanna Sharp on 2018 Jul 25th
You have six months to plan your wedding. As you feel the sweat beading up on your forehead, you begin to question your decision making skills.
Don’t worry, thousands of brides have planned their wedding in six months or less without their wedding day turning into a disaster.
If you want to fast track your wedding planning and make your man your groom, consider these five easy ways to get started.
1. Get to the Basics
The first thing you should do is set your budget. Your budget has the final say in all your decision making. Everything from the venue location to the guest list are directly affected by the price you come up with.
Next, set an exact date. Sure, you know you want to get married in a winter wonderland but what you need is an exact day and time. You can’t hire vendors or venues until your date is set in stone.
Once that’s established, develop the vision you have for your wedding. Remember: the grander you imagine your wedding, the more you’ll pay to bring to life. Ideally, your theme and vision will be somewhat simple.
2. Find a Venue—Stat!
Nail down the venue after you have a budget and date picked out. Because your budget and date will narrow down the list of venues, finding a location should be a secondary priority. Don’t be afraid to get creative and explore outdoor venues. The more creative you are, the more time and money you’ll save.
3. Be Flexible
If a venue falls through, a caterer can’t make it, or if you don’t get precisely the wedding cake you’re dreaming of, remind yourself you are on a short time line and the only thing that really matters is your marriage. Be willing to sacrifice the top photographer, cater, florist and cosmetologist in lieu of planning your wedding quickly.
4. Hire a Wedding Planner
A wedding planner can tackle some of the tasks you don’t have the time to get to. Don’t assume you have to hire them to handle every step of your wedding. Many event managers are willing to work part-time for you. This cuts back on the time you spend shopping for vendors or analyzing your guest list to death.
5. Eliminate the Unnecessary
Do you really need to go to those five bridal expos? Are you sure you have to have ALL the flowers in the nearby area at your wedding?
The more you simplify your wedding and vision, the more time you save. Cut out the extras and leave only the necessary behind. You’ll thank yourself on your wedding day if you do.
