At The Wish Pearl, we take great pride in our namesake. Our most prized item in our collection is our wish pearl.

Of course, we also recognize that many people aren’t super familiar with what pearls are, let alone what makes our pearls unique to others out there on the market.

To help fill you in on our Wish Pearls, we’ve listed a few fun facts about them below.

1) Our Pearls Come from China

Our pearls come from China and are farmed by fishermen in freshwater. We believe in ethical and ecological means of sourcing our pearls, so you can rest assured that our pearls are always sourced with these values in mind.

2) The Wish Pearl has a Secret

Unlike other pearls out there, the Wish Pearl is special and holds a secret. The secret is only revealed once you make a wish and open the oyster. That secret is the color of the pearl. No two pearls are the exact same, and once you break open the freshwater oyster you are the very first person to see the pearl inside. The jewelry item you make out of the pearl represents purity, innocence and beauty as a result.

3) Your “Wish” is Answered Inside

The only way to see what your wish is, or what your oyster will reveal to you, is to open it! There are several ‘wishes’ you can discover based on the color of the oyster. These include:

White = Health/Purity

Cream = Happiness

Peach = Romance

Lavender = Wisdom

Black = Wealth

The color of the pearl represents your future. It truly is unlike anything else out there. These colors and their representation are based on ancient Chinese culture so their meaning goes deep.

4) Our Pearls Are Freshwater Pearls

While the process of culturing our pearls is similar to that of other oyster culturing, our pearls are grown in freshwater. This means that the mussels which give way to the pearls are grown in rivers and lakes. This unique environment creates the lustrous pearls you get a chance to experience.

5) Every Pearl is Unique Just Like You

No pearl is absolutely perfect. Each has their own distinctive imperfections. As the only gemstone to be extracted from a living animal, part of their charm is in their originality.
