There are so many ways to wear headbands and bandanas that just writing this blog was a bit intimidating--something like, “so many headbands, so many hairdos, so little time.” Or, such as in the case of a blog, so few words…

First of all what is the difference between a headband and a bandana you ask? Very little actually, the word bandana originates from Sanskrit meaning "bond" and is usually a piece of cloth that can be used to tie the hair or wear around the neck. A headband is often circular in shape, made of a stretchy fabric and can be worn in a multitude of ways only limited by the imagination

Having said all of that, headbands have always been there, but there is definitely a resurgence, and The Wish Pearl is just on the verge of enhancing its headband group offerings in a big way. So stay tuned. These are not your mother’s headbands anymore.

Oh yes, and why? With a nod to peer pressure, you will have all kinds of examples to choose from just by doing some people watching.

Our first point in the hair department has to do with functionality. Let’s say you work from home. More and more workers are home-based than ever before. So, yes, you can just get out of bed, put on a headband to get the hair out of your eyes so you can see your keyboard and computer screen, and go for it. Just remember, if you are headed for a meeting, you may not want to turn on your screen.

Let’s say you are into coordinating your outfit. If you utilize headbands, you could have a plain grey headband to coordinate with your grey dress suit. OR, you could have a brightly colored one to jazz it up. There are stripes, prints, patterns, multi-colored, and a mixture of all of the above in the headband department.

Also, consider fabric. If your hair tends to be oily, or you use a lot of hair product, if your headband fabric is not washable, you might need a replacement headband(s) here and there. Hint: order three at a time...

What headbands, then, go with what hairstyles? The fact is that anything goes with anything, but you want to be sure that you look ok, right, and that your individual style is honored.

Long hair (real or “fake”) might benefit from the extra support of a headband. Long hair can be put in a “messy bun” with hair dangling and pushed up by a headband. Our point here is that the styling combinations are positively endless.
