Repurposing Your Clothing on Time for Fall

Repurposing Your Clothing on Time for Fall

Well, here we go again. It may be time for an inevitable change of wardrobe as the weather changes. You can be impervious to the norms such as “no white after Labor Day in the US,” or maybe you could care less about wearing only “Fall colors,” and deciding that you will only wear the colors that you like. The material will likely be warmer, although not necessarily.

The thing is that we are all free to make choices as to our own style’s components. Also, a budget can be a great leveler when it comes to purchasing such things as designer clothing and new-colored clothing.

No matter what, it is important to remember to recycle our clothing as well.

There are serious environmental concerns at play here. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has said that of the nearly 17 million tons of US textile waste created in 2017, only 15.2% was recycled, for a net of over 11 million tons dumped into landfills.

Also, in case you haven’t noticed, a number of retailers are creating new “seasons,” or a new trend each month instead of going with the traditional “seasons” when it comes to clothing. This creates more waste, which in some countries causes a doubling or tripling of waste annually.

With all due respect to people who want to look nice and be “trendy,” there are ways to get creative

Enter a new trend that really has its basis in recycling; namely, the repurposing of clothing. Companies are cropping up all over the place that will help you with this.

The way this works in some cases is to send clothing items to one of these companies and they will make it into something else. One thing we saw was a long dress changed into a romper, and a man’s shirt changed into a woman’s blouse.

You might also work with a clothing maker that uses all sustainable materials and buy from them. There are also companies that will advise you on what to wear and some send a monthly subscription box. You can buy one item, all items sent, or buy none.

Just take a look online.

Finally, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention The Wish Pearl’s product line. Maybe with your repurposed clothing, you can take out a jewelry piece you have not worn in a while, or you can purchase something new for that new dress you purchase.

Also, keep an eye out for our latest, a nice supply of headbands and you may be able to match with a repurposed outfit.
